ROLES OF SAMETI IN NATP
National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE) is facilitating the National Agricultural Technology Project (NATP), at National level and testing the institutional arrangements and operational changes in 24 districts of 6 states. In Maharashtra, four districts are identified under NATP and in Ahmednagar district work has been initiated since 1year .
The overall aim of the NATP project is to develop and test a technology transfer system which is demand driven, well integrated with research and financially sustainable. It also aims at utilizing the expertise at non-governmental organization (NGOs) in helping farmers and serving farmers through community organization and transferring inputs and technologies.
Under NATP SAMETI is playing an important role of facilitating the implementation of Innovation in Technology Dissemination (ITD) in four districts of Maharashtra State, and also SAMETI is playing a key role in supporting the institutional and operational reforms in the project district.
Under NATP SAMETI is performing the following roles.
To
function as a mini MANAGE at the state level & provide extension input for extension
functionaries.
To provide consultancy in areas like project planning,
appraisal, implementation etc.
Organize need based training programmes for middle
level and grass root level agricultural extension functionaries and
