- Six Agro Ecological zones are identified in the district. There are 12 Blocks.
- Total cultivated area is 35% of Geographical area and area under forests is 26%.

- Rainfall ranges from 500-700 mm in Scarce rainfall zone and 700-1000 mm in other zones.
- Agriculture, Dairying, Horticulture, Fisheries, Social Forestry and Sericulture are the important farming activities.

4 to 6 Mandals is named as Farmer Information and Advisory Centre (FIAC).
