3. Success Story : Chillies IPM demonstration.

           Chillies IPM demonstration was organized in the field of Sri V.Krishna Murthy, Bollapalli village, Martur in an area of 2 acres who was trained on IPM Chillies by DAATT Centre, Ongole during 2001-2002 with an intention to popularize IPM technology instead of indiscriminate use of pesticides to reduce cost of cultivation.

IPM practices adopted are

           Raising of Bajra as border crop. Raising Castor as trap crop.

           Use of pheromone traps, neem based pesticides, trichoderma viridi, pseudomonas, NPV liquid and use of recommended pesticides when ever necessary as lost of resort.

           Only (12) sprayings takenup costing Rs.5500/- in the demonstation plot against (23) sprayings in the farmers practice plot costing Rs.10,500/-.

           The yield in the demonstration plot Rs.13000 Kgs in Hect as against 10300 Kgs in the control plot.

           Other farmers are also impressed and satisfied on the IPM demonstrations result and readily accepted to follow IPM in the next season.
