India’s
agribusiness sector has vast potential to grow in the years to come.
There are immense opportunities for the growth of this sector both
in the domestic as well as international arena. One of the critical
inputs for the growth of this sector is the availability of trained
and capable techno-managerial manpower. In response to this need,
the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management
(MANAGE), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Agriculture,
Govt. of India launched a one year Post Graduate Programme in Agri
Warehousing and Cool Chain Management (AWACCM) during 2004-05. After
successful completion of the 2004-05 batch and placement of the
students in various agribusiness and service sectors, the course
content has been further strengthened based on the feedback from the
industry particularly in logistics and supply chain management. In
order to suitably reflect the programme, it is renamed as Post
Graduate Programme in Agri Warehousing and Supply Chain Management (PGP-AWASCM)
from
2005-06 and the same programme is continuing. The programme is
dynamic and innovative to suit the growing needs of the
agribusiness.
