Present Work:   

Joined MANAGE in 1991. Working in the library.

Work Experience

Started career as Librarian in 1990 in Shri Narla Venkateswara Rao's personal library.

Joined MANAGE in 1991 to develop a library on agricultural extension management. Gained experience in handling administrative and technical matters in a modern library.  Special attention was paid to develop information services for the extension personnel, automate library activities, publish MANAGE Bulletin and Extension Digest and other publications. 

Honours

University First Rank in Library & Information Science in 1990

Academy of Library Science and Documentalists (ALSD) Gold Medal for the year 1990 for securing first rank in BLISc. in the Osmania University.

Ongoing Educational Programmes

1. Undergoing a two-year course’ Post Graduate Diploma in Library Automation and Networking’ (PGDLAN) through distance learning programme of the University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad.

2. Registered for Ph.D. (1999) in Library and Information Science in the Department of Library and Information Science, Osmania University. The topic chosen for the research is: 'Agricultural Information Services in a developing society: a Study of information support services for the agricultural extension officers in Andhra Pradesh’. Pre-Ph.D. exam completed.

IT Skills

Able to work in Wndows 95/98, Windows NT and Unix environments. Have been using LIBSYS and CDS/ISIS softwares for different library operations. Familiar with MS Office, FrontPage and most of the graphic tools.

1. A three - month course on DTP from Shramika Vidya Peeth, Ranga Reddy District, Hyderabad in 1995

2. A month Advance training program on CDS/ISIS software from INSDOC New Delhi during July - August, 1995

3. A two -week course on computer applications for IRS - CDS/ISIS at NAARM, Hyderabad during June 1994.

4. A five - week training program on Creative writing for Multimedia Production at CMC Limited, Hyderabad during June 1997.

5. A six- day course on Team Building Skills at MANAGE , Hyderabad during February, 1997.

1. Workshop on Information Network for Rural Development at the National Institute of Rural Development, Hyderabad, in July 1993.

2. Workshop on Library Information Networking in Hyderabad (HYLIBNET) at Osmania University in October 1993.

4. Fifteenth annual Convention and conference of Society for Information Science (SIS) at IISc, Bangalore in January 1996.

Organisation of training Programmes and teaching experience:

1. Organised a training program for librarians on Internet for Agricultural Information Communication during 15 - 18, April 1998 at MANAGE, Hyderabad as Course Director.

2. Involved as teaching faculty in the training programs of the institute to handle sessions on cyber extension and information management.

3. Teaches in the Department of Library and Information Science, Osmania University and Dr. B.R.Ambedkar Open University, Hyderabad on topics such as Library networking and Internet - based information services and Documentation services. Goes as guest faculty in the training programs of NAARM and NISIET, Hyderabad on CDS/ISIS software applications.

4. On the panel of script writers for writing radio talks for the students of library and information science students of Dr. B.R.Ambedkar Open University, Hyderabad.

Voluntary Work

Working for 'Teneteega' - telugu version of the Honeybee magazine of IIM, Ahmedabad.

1. A.S.Charyulu ( 1997) Redefining library and information science education in a changing world.  Paper presented at IATLIS Conference held at University of Mysore, Mysore during November 1997.

2. A.S.Charyulu and Lakshmi Murthy (1998) criteria for web resources. Paper presented at 17th SIS Conference at University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad during March, 1998.

3. G.Bhaskar and A.S.Charyulu ( 1999) Intranet - based information services: a case study of MANAGE OnLine paper presented at 18th SIS Conference at IMTEC, Chandigarh in January 1999.

4. A.S.Charyulu and Dr. V. Viswamohan ( 1999) Creation of subject-based gateways: a librarian’s catalogue of Internet information resources paper presented at 18th SIS Conference at IMTEC, Chandigarh in January 1999.

Besides the above, contributed about six popular articles on trends in library and information services in telugu language in Grandhalaya sarvaswam - an official magazine of A.P. Public Library Association.

1.  MANAGE Digital Library Project: A proposal . Prepared on 23rd September, 1999.

2. The Future of MANAGE Digital Library. Prepared on 29th December, 1999 for presenting in 'Self Learning by Observing and Listening' at MANAGE.

3. Cyber Extension. Prepared for the Banner Programmes on New Dimensions of Agricultural Extension Management at Shanti Niketan, Visva - Bharati, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore in January and February 2000 respectively.
