Dr. Srinivasacharyulu Attaluri, Program Officer,

Dr. Attaluri's specialization is Agricultural Knowledge Management & Capacity Development in Agricultural Extension. He completed Master of Library and Information Science (M.L.I.Sc) and later done his Ph.D on 'Agricultural Information Services in a Developing Society: A Study on Information Support to Agricultural Extension Services in Andhra Pradesh' from the Osmania University in 2005. He bagged Osmania University Gold Medal for securing first rank in B.L.I.Sc in 1990. He has 25 years of experience in the areas of agricultural information and knowledge systems and services, ICT in agriculture, e-Extension, documentation and publishing agricultural innovations and success stories, design and implementation of agricultural communication strategies, agricultural portals, databases, repositories, managing and automating agricultural libraries, promoting open access in agriculture and institutional capacity building for generating, access and effective knowledge in agricultural  development. He has experience in training need assessment, training design, scheduling framework, organizing training programs, tracking training resources and evaluation of training programs.

Work Experience:

Dr. Attaluri has experience in design and organization of capacity development programs for agricultural scientists, administrators, ICT Managers, extension functionaries and agricultural communication professionals in the area of ICTs in Agriculture, e-Extension, Social Media for Agriculture, Agricultural Marketing Information Systems, Community Radio, Public-Private Partnership in Extension, Documentation Skills, Managing Agricultural Libraries and Resource Centers. He coordinated several training, capacity development programs, consultative workshops and seminars for the participants from India and other countries from South Asia, Asia and the Pacific and Africa on various themes. He also collaborated with several national and international training programs, consultations, workshops, surveys, e-consultations, research projects and worked closely with Nodal Information Points in the National Agricultural Research Systems (NARS) in Asia and the Pacific region, CGIAR Institutions and organization like FAO-RAP, GFAR, ACIAR, ASTI/IFPRI, SAARC Agriculture Center, SPC, AIT-Extension and several other stakeholders such as Farmers' Associations, NGO Associations, Private Companies etc.

 

He contributed about 25 publications which includes research articles, edited books, directories, status reports, seminar papers, workshop proceedings, success stories and reading material for the training programs. He provided editorial services to MANAGE Bulletin, Extension Digest, ODI Natural Resources Perspectives (between 1997-1999), SAC Newsletter, SAARC Journal of Agriculture, APAARI Newsletter, Annual Reports, Training Calendar, Brochures etc. He prepared several PowerPoint presentations and shared them on Slideshare.

Workshops and Programs Organized / Coordinated:

  1. Coordinated four 2-month US-India-Africa Triangular International Training Program on New Dimensions in Agricultural Extension Management for Agricultural Practitioners from Kenya, Liberia and Malawi during Jan-March, 2013; Oct-Dec, 2013; Aug-Oct, 2014 and July-Sept, 2015. A total of 130 senior Executives from Kenya, Liberia and Malawi attended these capacity building programs.

  2. Coordinated a 10-day "International Training Program on Agricultural Extension System and Community Development for Indonesian Officials" during 1-9 December, 2014. This is a bi-lateral program between MANAGE and Indonesian Agency of Agricultural Extension and Human Resources Development (AAEHRD). A total of 10 senior Indonesian officials attended the program.

  3. Regional Consultation on Collective Actions for Opening Access to Agricultural Information and Knowledge in the Asia-Pacific Region, jointly held by APAARI, FAO, GFAR, SAARC Agriculture Centre and Center for Renewable Natural Resources Research of Bhutan (CoRRB) on 13-15 December, 2012, Thimpu, Bhutan.

  4. Workshop on Agricultural R&D in the Asia-Pacific Region: The Need to Monitor Investments, Capacities and Institutional Changes, in collaboration with APAARI and IFPRI on 16-17 February, 2012 at Bangkok, Thailand.

  5. Training Workshop on Coherence in Agricultural Information Management (CIARD) and Strengthening Regional Agricultural Research Information Systems (RAIS) in SAARC Countries, jointly held by APAARI, FAO, GFAR, SAARC Agriculture Centre on 10-12 May, 2011, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
