Diploma in Agricultural Extension Services for Input Dealers (DAESI)

MANAGE has been implementing one year “Diploma in Agricultural Extension Services for Input Dealers” (DAESI) sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare (MoA&FW) since 2003. The programme is being implemented through SAMETIs by a network of Nodal Training Institutes (NTIs) at district level namely Krishi Vignan Kendras (KVKs), State Agricultural Universities (SAUs), District Agricultural Training Centres (DATCs), etc. across 20 states of the country. The Government of India subsidizes the course fee (50%) to the extent of Rs.14,000/- per licensed input dealer. Rural unemployed youth who wish to establish an agri-input enterprise may enroll in the DAESI course by paying the full course fee of Rs. 28,000. The course is open to all practicing input dealers, or candidates aspiring to become input dealers, who have at least appeared for the 10th class examination.

Technical portion of the programme is being delivered through weekly Contact Classes (in physical mode) at designated NTIs by subject experts and practitioners on Sundays or Market holidays of the respective location. Duration of the programme is 48 weeks including 80 sessions and eight field visits spread over a year. The revised course curriculum consists of 16 modules covering basics of agriculture, soil health management, crop production technologies, leveraging agricultural value chains through collectives, latest technologies in agriculture, agri-entrepreneurship, etc. The diploma candidates are expected to submit / present sketch book, problem solution registers, field records, herbarium and assignments every week. At the end of all the sessions, the candidates will appear for final examinations after which the successful candidates in the written test / viva voce exam will be issued the Diploma.
