Mandate

  • To build human capacity and institutional competence for agro processing, post harvest management, and agribusiness development.
  • The Institute delivers practical, market oriented training, that enable farmers, processors, cooperatives and small and medium enterprises to market raw agricultural commodities into safe, high value products.

Objectives

  • To design and deliver competency based courses in food processing, packaging, quality assurance and business management.
  • To provide short courses, certification programs
  • Facilitate linkages to finance, markets and regulatory agencies.
  • Monitor graduate outcomes and support enterprise incubation and scaling.

Thrust Areas

  • post-harvest management, waste utilization, food and bio-based enterprises, market linkages, and entrepreneurship development—with a strong focus on capacity building and skill enhancement for farmers, youth, and extension professionals.

Scope

  • Offering programs in value added services beyond primary production, such as agro-processing, food technology, horticulture, dairying and poultry farming.
  • These programs meet the growing demand for professionals in agri business and help farmers increase income and sustainability. /li>
  • Training in secondary agriculture can also develop skilled agri-entrepreneurs
