Present Work

Heading the MANAGE Centre for Gender in Agriculture, Food and Nutritional Security, Urban Farming.
Principal Coordinator of PGDAEM Program at MANAGE.
Dr. Veenita Kumari had previously worked as Assistant Professor (Extension & Communication Management) in College of Home Science, Central Agricultural University, Tura, Meghalaya for more than 13 years. She was primarily involved in teaching (B.Sc. and M.Sc.), research and outreach activities of the college (on and off-campus). During this period she was in-charge of Academics and Examination for more than two years, in-charge for annual and quarterly report of the college, newsletter information compilation etc.

Her areas of specialization include Women Empowerment, Gender Studies, Women in Agriculture, Community Nutrition, Rural Development, Foods & Nutritional Security, Urban Agriculture and Microgreens.

Her contribution in this field is recognized by way of the following awards:

  • “Young Scientist Award” by ‘endling’ conferences during “International Conference on Foods & Agriculture” (ICFA) held during March 29th – 31st, 2018 in Dhanbad, Jharkhand
  • “Young Teacher Award” by Society of Agricultural Innovation and Development (SAID) and Bihar Animal Sciences University, Patna, Bihar during national conference on Livelihood and Food Security (LFS-2018) from January 27-28, 2018.
  • ‘Excellence in Teaching Award’ in 2017 by the organising committee of ‘PRAGATI’ , Academy of Environment & Life Sciences and Bulletin of Environment, Pharmacology & Life Sciences, Dhanbad, Jharkhand.

She has 23 published research articles in refereed academic national and international journals and two book chapters.

Completed:

  • An Intramural Research Project titled, “Role of Self Help Promoting Institutions in Empowering Women through Self Help Groups in West Garo Hills”of one year duration.
  • An Intramural Research Project titled, “Gender Mapping of the People of West Garo Hills Engaged in Agriculture, Household and Allied Activities” of one year duration.
  • A Special Project course under Ph. D Program entitled “A Study on Nutritional Status of Rural Women of Bihar”.

  • Household analysis of urban Farming: Alternative Strategy for food and nutritional security
