Vision, Mandate, Major Focus


Vision

  • To mainstream gender in agricultural development process, promote nutrition sensitive agriculture and popularise urban agriculture among urban and peri-urban households for food and nutritional security.

Mandate

  • To sensitise extension functionaries on the importance of gender in agriculture and build their capacity on mainstreaming gender in agricultural development.
  • To promote nutrition-sensitive agriculture through awareness building, training and policy intervention.
  • To promote urban agriculture in urban and peri-urban areas to ensure healthy and nutritional food security in the urban and peri-urban areas.
  • To conduct action research in gender studies, urban agriculture and nutrition sensitive agriculture.
  • To establish linkages with national and international institutions working in the areas of gender studies, women in agriculture and nutrition science.

Major Focus

  • Training and capacity development on gender in agriculture.
  • Management Development Program for women officers and induction programs for newly appointed gender coordinators.
  • Promoting innovative technologies in sustainable food systems and nutri sensitive agriculture.
  • Preparing training modules on gender mainstreaming and nutrition-sensitive agriculture for effective agricultural extension services.
  • Consultancy services to implement projects and research studies.
