Vision, Mandate, Major Focus
Vision
- To promote use and application of new ICTs and digital tools in agricultural extension system in order to provide seamless access to information to farmers and extension functionaries for informed decision making and effective performance.
Mandate
- To build capacities of senior and middle level extension professionals on digital agriculture and ICTs.
- To design strategies for e-agriculture and advanced ICTs for strengthening agricultural extension system.
- To implement projects on ICTs and mass media to strengthen agricultural extension services and undertake action research / evaluation studies.
- To prepare master trainers from SAMETIs, EEIs, NGOs and state agricultural universities on ICTs and digital tools in agriculture.
- To develop linkages with ICT leaders and collaborate with national and international organisations who deal with ICTs in agriculture.
Major Focus
- Training and capacity building on ICTs and digital tools in agriculture and allied sectors.
- Creating awareness and capacities in Digital Agriculture, Drones usage, use emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and Internet of Things (IoT) in Agriculture and also application of Remote Sensing (RS), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Mobile Apps in agriculture.
- Software development for implementation of schemes, programs and activities in agricultural extension.
- Consultancy services to implement ICT projects and capacity building activities for public and private organizations.
